Cooking Class for Kids Held on Oct 24: Halloween Treats

This past Saturday, the Fine Arts Academy of First United Methodist Church of Hurst held their October cooking class for kids.  The featured cuisine was all about Halloween, and children aged seven to ten prepared and ate their five course meal.  The morning class entailed mixing, decorating, baking, and more.

From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Fine Arts Academy directed and assisted the children with the food preparation.  Considering the Halloween theme, the kids were not lacking in enthusiasm.  Patience was the biggest challenge while the many delicious courses were prepared, however the preparation time was well worth it once the kids sat down to eat their prize. Furthermore, the kids certainly enjoyed the feast all the more for having prepared it with friends.

Unanimously, the children voted the Mummy Dogs their favorite…although everything else came in a close second.

The Fine Arts Academy offers children’s cooking classes throughout the year.  The next class runs in November and is detailed below:

Gifts from the Kitchen

Saturday, November 7 -- 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Use your talents to create tasty gifts!  Students will prepare scrumptious snacks like peppermint bark, holiday trail mix, sweet-spiced pecans, and mulled cider mix, then package them to give to someone special.  The class is open to children in grades 1 - 6. Cost is $15 per child and includes instruction, food, and recipes to take home.
