A top notch fine wine and exquisite food pairing was presented by E. & J. Gallo Winery and InformationWeek on September 13, 2009.  The Master of Ceremonies was the charismatic Kent Kushar, E. & J. Gallo Winery VP and CIO, who knows his fine wines and knows how to please a crowd.  This was amongst the most enjoyable pairing menus I've ever attended.  The following is the fantastic wine and food menu presented on that fine evening:

Our recipe here includes a set of grilled vegetables including eggplant, green and red bell peppers and zucchini.  Antipasto is Italian for appetizer, in particular a course of mixed foods.  It never fails to make for an impressive serving plate, not to mention the taste, of course!

The approach is versatile to a wide variety of vegetables, so feel free to use any vegetables you prefer.  It is traditionally served warm or chilled, allowing you to prepare this conveniently in advance.

This pasta sauce is packed with flavor, serving as a glorious example of cooking with wine.   The mix of beef and pork lightens the meaty taste, allowing the other flavors to come forward into a rich combination unlike most other pasta sauces.

In Italy and Southern France, the Bolognese is as common to pasta restaurants as chili is to American diners.  Most pasta restaurants have a daily pot ready for lunch and dinner time.  Combined with a great red wine, it is hard to go wrong with eating or sharing such a meal.

October Potluck Held on October 7th

Our third office pot luck took on an Italian theme with antipasto, pasta, and cake.  Judging by the number of attendees and seconds that were served, it seemed clear the menus were working for everyone.

October has arrived already, and lately in North Texas, summer and winter have been fighting bitterly for control--fall seems to be sitting this one out.  With colder, wetter, darker weather lurking around, some hearty food was very welcome.  This month, the menu was comprised of the following:
